Program for evaluating microwave transmission
through material with permittivity epsilon

A microwave beam at single frequency impinges on a slab of material of specified thickness.
The material is situated in a waveguide
Cell A3 specifies real epsilon

e.g. for PTFE a value of 2.0 may be written

Cell E3 specifies imaginary epsilon

e.g. value for GLASS –0.01 (include minus sign)

Cell F8 gives a scaling factor sf

the data Sheet is set up for a sample of thickness 1 cm
the sf allows this to be changed e.g. for a sample of 10 cm then sf = 10

Cell A5 is used to specify the frequency of the microwave beam
Cell B7 specifies the broad dimension, a, of the waveguide in cm

e.g. for X-band a = 2.286, for C-band a = 3.485
if a is given a large value, say, a = 1000 the program is applicable to free space propagation

On "DATA SHEET" any of the above cells can be changed

PROCEDURE
1. Go to cell
2. Change value
3. Click on green tick

CHART 1 gives phase transmission
CHART 2 gives relative transmission of the microwave beam
